Kenya Power has issued a public notice under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, informing customers of a planned electricity supply interruption in parts of eight counties on Thursday, October 9.

The scheduled outage is necessary to facilitate routine maintenance, connect new customers, upgrade power lines, and replace infrastructure affected by road construction and other developments.

Power supply will be disrupted for up to nine hours in most of the affected regions.

Nairobi

Who are Kenya Power shareholders?

In other news, Kenya Power’s shareholding remains largely under government control, with the National Treasury holding 50.09% of the company’s 1.95 billion issued shares, making it the largest single shareholder.

The top 20 shareholders collectively own 64.46% of the firm, with East African institutional investors contributing the majority at 64.64%.

Notable shareholders beyond the Treasury include Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, SBM Bank nominees, Standard Chartered nominees, Stanbic nominees, and Kenya Commercial Bank nominees, among others.
