Kaluma, who hails from Chinga village in Othaya, went viral after sharing emotional clips showing his daily struggles while taking care of his ailing dad who suffered a stroke in 2024.
His humility and determination moved many across the country, prompting an outpouring of support from well-wishers.

After his story gained traction online, fellow TikTokers organised a visit to his home on September 28, where thousands turned up to offer support.

The event saw the young TikToker receive financial help, brand deals, and other forms of support.
The support did not stop there. During a thanksgiving service hosted at Bishop Muthee Kiengei’s JCM church, the family once again witnessed overwhelming kindness from Kenyans.
Kaluma’s mother received over KSh 2 million to start a business, while the family was also gifted a piece of land to build a new home, among many other things.
One of the biggest surprises of the day came when the East African University awarded the 17-year-old a fully funded scholarship to pursue a course in sales and marketing.
According to Kiengei, the scholarship is aimed at sharpening his digital marketing skills as he has already landed multiple brand deals.
What plans does the university have for Kaluma Boy?
Days after the thanksgiving service, Bishop Kiengei took to social media, revealing more details about the university’s big plans for Kaluma Boy.
He leaked WhatsApp chats showing discussions with the university leadership, giving Kenyans a glimpse of the institution’s intentions to fully support the young TikToker.
“Great things await Kaluma Boy,” he captioned the post.
One of the messages from the university stated:
“We will accommodate him and give him monthly pocket money.”
