Madowo, who spotted the lawmaker’s car from a distance, attempted to stop the politician and his driver and inform them that they were flouting traffic rules.

However, the incident turned dramatic when the two started throwing jibes and insults at the celebrated scribe.

In a video he shared on his social media pages on Thursday, October 9, Madowo was visibly dismayed by the incident but downplayed it, and even giggled at the flurry of insults.

Kenyans were quick to identify the MP as Peter Orero, a former teacher who is representing Kibra constituency in the National Assembly.

“These guys were driving on the wrong side, and I blocked them, then this is what they told me,” said Madowo in the short clip.

The driver was seen and heard hurling insults as the MP, who was seated in the co-driver’s seat, dared Madowo to report to President William Ruto if he felt offended.

“Peleke kwa Ruto (report to (president) Ruto,” the MP was heard saying, as the driver echoed the jibes.

Unmoved, the CNN correspondent fired back with a taunting response.

“Sawa nitapeleka kwa Ruto, hiyo mnaogopa pekee yake “its okay, I will report to Ruto, is that your only fear?,” he responded.

The MP’s driver, visibly pissed off by Madowo’s ‘high-handedness’, threw more insults at him as he drove off.

“Peleka kwa Ruto, takataka!” Come get your uncles, please, they’re misbehaving on the road. Is this your MP? he posted.

Kenyans trooped to Madowo’s timelines to castigate the MP and his driver for displaying arrogance and impunity on a public road.

Cynthia Mwangi said:

“It’s giving: Do you know who I am? Yes, yes, sir, we do, you’re the guy going home soon.

Madowo is not new to confronting motorists who disregard traffic rules. He has taken on the mighty and the middle class with the same zeal and dedication.

In January, Madowo clashed with a matatu driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road in Nairobi.

He recorded the incident and shared it on his social media pages, attracting a barrage of mixed reactions.

The driver, who was equally irritated by the journo’s obstruction and insistence that he must follow the traffic rules, muttered a flurry of insults before reversing and taking the right lane.
