Tonino rose to fame in the gospel music scene years ago for his hit gospel tracks, with his song, Shakenisho, earning him nationwide recognition.
Fans fondly recall his memorable performance on the Churchill Show, where he perfomed the song.
What we know about Daniel Tonino’s death
Reports indicate that Tonino died on Saturday, October 11, following a tragic road accident along Kimana Road in Kajiado South at Isinet, Loitoktok.
Photos of the alleged incident showed a Toyota Crown badly mangled after the crash.
The news was confirmed by his family, sparking an outpouring of condolences from fans, friends, and fellow artistes.
Among those who mourned him was Kajiado county governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who shared the sad news on social media along with photos of past moments he had shared with the singer.
In his tribute, the politician wrote:
“What a dark Sunday. We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of renowned Maa gospel artist Daniel Tonino. He was more than a musician; he was a messenger of hope whose powerful voice inspired faith, unity, and pride in the Maa culture. His music touched many hearts across Kajiado and beyond. On behalf of the people of Kajiado County, and the entire Maa nation, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans. May the Almighty grant them comfort during this difficult time, and may Daniel’s soul rest in eternal peace.”

Tonino’s death has left Kenyans in disbelief, with many who were inspired by his musical ministry sharing emotional tributes in his honour online.

How did Gracious Teiyan die?
In another heartbreaking loss, the Maa community recently lost popular TikToker Graicious Teiyan Meyoki.
The content creator reportedly fell ill after experiencing severe headaches and was quickly rushed to hospital by her family on Sunday, September 14.
Sadly, she passed away two days later, on Tuesday, September 16.
