Zablon Aruka was allegedly murdered by unknown assailants, leaving his wife and children heartbroken.
Who threatened Zablon Aruka?
Before his tragic demise, Aruka reportedly told his wife that some of his family members had threatened his life.
The grieving widow noted that her husband was a man of truth who called out anyone doing wrong, regardless of age, adding that many people disliked him for that.
“The people he mentioned as threatening him are our family members. He loved peace and safety, so I do not know if his vocal nature is what brought him all these problems, because the moment he corrected someone, they considered him an enemy,” she explained.
The young woman noted that her husband had left her with their young children, who are still in school.
She stated that life would be hard without Aruka because he was the sole breadwinner, paying her children’s school fees.
The grieving woman also shared that her husband had yet to fully establish a home for them, something he will never get to do since he was killed.
“I do not know where to start from, I do not know what I will do without him,” she said.
A resident of Ebuyangu village said it was unfortunate for someone to be killed within such a small community.
He called on the police to expedite investigations and bring all those responsible to book.

Are Vihiga criminals known?
“Police are trying their best, but criminals sometimes outdo them because some of them are even educated and have chosen crime as their profession,” shared James Ondenyo, a village head.

He noted that the criminals time their attacks when officers are changing shifts to commit their crimes, adding that at times they use bad weather as cover to attack unsuspecting villagers.
Ondenyo said the police will not relent until the suspects are arrested, as the culprits are wanted individuals and are known.
“These people knew their names had been presented to the authorities, and that is why they attacked Aruka. Investigations are currently underway, and I believe they will be arrested,” he added.
