What did Ramadhan Mattanka’s family say?
Speaking after the loss, the family of Mzee Hassan Dabie recounted the last moments they shared with the deceased long before the attack.
Mattanka was the only child of Mzee Dabie.
The distraught father revealed that they had a prayer session with his only son before wishing him well as he left home for work.
But as they waited to see him later in the day, the tragedy struck, taking away the family’s only child.
Meanwhile, the authorities are working to establish whether there was any prior link between Mattanka and Kimunyi, or with other officers on duty, given the restricted nature of the location.
Surveillance footage captured Mattanka collapsing in pain as fellow officers tried to assist, but he did not survive.
Why Ramadhan Mattanka’s burial was deferred
His family, adhering to Islamic customs, had planned to bury him before sunset on Monday, but police requested a delay to allow for a post-mortem examination the following day.

CCTV footage showed Kimunyi approaching Gate D and engaging Mattanka in a prolonged conversation before suddenly launching the assault while other officers were occupied with a vehicle inspection.
He fell on the ground writhing in pain.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mattanka succumbed to his injuries.
How long will Kimunyi be detained?
Meanwhile, a court in Nairobi granted to the prayers of the investigators handling the matter.
He will be detained for the next 14 days.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect traveled from Makueni to Nairobi on Sunday night and is believed to have carried out the assault the following morning.
Authorities noted that his place of residence remains unclear, raising concerns that he could flee if released on bail.
They argued that granting bond could compromise the investigation, as the suspect might evade law enforcement.
Investigators requested additional time to identify and interview key witnesses, retrieve call logs from the suspect’s phone, and secure CCTV footage to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
A post-mortem revealed that the victim died from severe internal bleeding, with the arrow reportedly damaging vital organs including the ribs, lung, and heart.
