Kenyans across the country are mourning the death of former prime minister and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga.

The veteran politician, widely known as Baba, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 15.
Raila died at the age of 80 while receiving treatment at Ayurvedic Eye Hospital Research Center at Koothattukulam in Ernakulam district of Kerala in India.
His death comes just days after online speculation that his condition was critical. However, his family had reassured the public that he was doing well and responding to treatment.

Politicians defended these claims, expressing confidence that the leader would recover and dismissing any negativity surrounding his health.
How did Raila Odinga die?
According to reports, the ODM leader suffered a cardiac arrest during his morning walk on the campus.
He was promptly rushed to Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre, where all efforts to revive him proved futile.
The veteran politician’s body was moved to Deva Matha Hospital in Koothattukulam for preservation, awaiting repatriation to Kenya.

TUKO.co.ke also reported that the ODM leader’s last post on social media moved many, as they flooded the comments section following news of his death.
In his post, he celebrated the local football team, Gor Mahia FC, for their milestone, sharing images from when the team’s management had visited him.
He wished them well in their games, praying for their return to glory in the new season. Kenyans left condolence messages under the ODM leader’s post.
