Kenyans have consoled renowned satirist Gabriel Oguda, a close friend of the late former prime minister Raila Odinga, after he shared screenshots of his last conversation with him.

Oguda, who rose to the public eye through his witty and satirical columns and social media posts, shared a moving post to mourn the death of Raila, which happened in India.

In his Facebook post, Oguda shared that the ODM leader tried to reach him on Monday, but due to connection problems, they could not speak.

He revealed that Raila, fondly referred to as Baba by his loyal supporters, called him twice, and he missed the calls.

“He called back again after I returned his call and didn’t connect,” he said.

Luckily, Raila called him again, but they only spoke for a few minutes.

“After speaking for two minutes, he called me back again immediately to pass on a message he had missed during the earlier call,” he wrote.

The WhatsApp screenshot that he shared showed that their calls lasted for two minutes and another for a few seconds.

However, Oguda revealed that Raila passed the piece of information that he wanted him to know.

“I am at a loss for words,” he noted.

Kenyans were heartbroken by the screenshots, and they took to the comment section to eulogise the former prime minister and comfort the satirist.

Others were curious to know what Raila’s last message to Oguda was, with others wondering how he sounded on that Monday.

Nyanza leaders painfully mourn Raila Odinga

In other news, residents of Nyanza counties were inconsolable after learning about the death of the former prime minister.

In videos shared, the locals from Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay counties erupted into pain and wailing as they learnt that their beloved kingpin was no more.

Some residents, when interviewed by the press, expressed their deep sorrow and pain following the politician’s death.

“As Luos, we are left blind. We do not know what will happen to Kenya moving forward. We are in so much pain; it feels like a parent who has just lost a child,” said one Kisumu resident, crying in agony.
