Kisumu woman rep Ruth Odinga has broken her silence following the death of Raila Odinga.

Ruth, Raila’s young sister, had travelled to India to check on the former premier and keep him company as he recuperates

However, on Wednesday, October 15, Raila died abruptly after suffering a heart attack.

The ODM party leader was reportedly on a morning walk as recommended by medics when he collapsed and died.

Ruth, who had spent time with him, said the veteran politician was recuperating well and medics were considering to discharge him.

The outspoken woman rep said she did her best to save her brother’s life, but things did not work out.

According to her, the demise of Raila was a testament that God loved him more, and nothing could be done to stop God’s will

She noted that the former premier’s death is a big blow not just to the family but to the country at large.

“I really tried Jakawuor. God loves you more. You went like the soldier you are, walking!” She said.

Earlier, ODM MPs broke down in tears during a morning parliamentary session that was disrupted following the death of Raila.

A host of MPs struggled to pay tribute to the former premier during the session, forcing the Speaker to call off the proceedings.

Busia woman rep Catherine Omayo and her Likoni counterpart Mishi Mboko was filmed shedding tears in the chambers soon after receiving the heartbreaking news.

At Raila’s Karen home, a sombre mood was evident as leaders gathered to condole with the family.

Raila’s wife, Mama Ida Odinga, was visibly devastated and struggled to gather energy and strength to address hundreds of mourners who visited the home in droves.

President William Ruto was among the dignitaries who visited Raila’s Karen home to condole with his family.
