A minute of silence was observed in honour of the late Raila Odinga ahead of a Romanian league match on Saturday.

Which clubs honoured Raila Odinga?
Gloria Bistrita and Farul Constanta held a minute of silence around the centre circle before their game in the Romanian Superliga Women.
The latter is the home to Harambee Starlets players, goalkeeper Lilian Awuor and defender Enez Mango.
Awuor hails from Siaya County, the same place Raila comes from. Raila’s body arrived in Bondo on Saturday afternoon, where another public viewing took place ahead of the burial on Sunday.
The two clubs observed a minute of silence for the former prime minister before the game got underway, as first reported by Belvine Omondi.
Romania Superliga Women
Farul won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Antonia Bratu in the 81st minute. Awuor played the entire game, keeping another clean sheet, while Mango was hooked after the hour mark and replaced by Botojel Cristiana.
The win saw them regain their lead at the top of the table with 20 points, two ahead of second-placed Politehnica Timisoara. Csíkszereda Miercurea Ciuc are in third place with 16 points.
Monica Raluca’s side will play Unirea Alba Iulia after the international break as they seek to win a third title in a row.
Harambee Starlets WAFCON qualifiers
The duo has been called up for international duty, where Harambee Starlets will face Gambia in a double-legged 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier.
Beldine Odemba’s side will begin their campaign at home on October 24 at Nyayo Stadium, before playing the reverse fixture in Senegal four days later. Gambia doesn’t have an approved stadium.

FKF mourns Raila Odinga
The Football Kenya Federation had earlier issued a moving statement mourning Raila. The Hussein Mohamed-led body released a statement eulogising him as a visionary leader.
“FKF joins the nation in mourning the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. A statesman, visionary leader, and passionate supporter of local football, his legacy will continue to inspire. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and Kenyans during this difficult time.”

The governing body also suspended all league matches in the county for seven days in line with President William Ruto’s proclamation of a seven-day mourning period.
Arsenal beat Fulham to reclaim top spot
On Saturday, Raila’s club Arsenal beat Fulham to go top of the Premier League table.
Raila was always an ardent supporter of the Gunners and was pictured at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game to take Mikel Arteta’s side to 19 points, three clear of Manchester City in second.
