Nairobi: Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School is reeling following a brutal robbery that claimed the lives of two security guards on the night of Friday, October 17.

The attack occurred moments after Form Four candidates had completed their preparations for the upcoming national examinations.
How was Kabete Vet Lab attacked?
According to Citizen TV, the group reportedly targeted the school’s computer laboratory and teachers’ residences, vandalised property, and stole equipment.

A security guard from a neighbouring school overheard the commotion and alerted Kabete’s management, including Principal Evans Owala.
“When I arrived at the compound, one guard was already dead and the other was still breathing. He died while being rushed to the hospital,” Owala said, adding that the suspects appeared to be familiar with the school.
One of the deceased guards was identified as Kenneth Wanjala.

According to the principal, the attackers stole ten laptops and several desktop keyboards, although some fell during their escape.

He also claimed that the suspects ‘broke CCTV cameras along the corridors’ and attempted to flee with them packed in cartons.
However, footage retrieved after the incident reportedly showed that the suspects are Form Four students who had been expelled from the school.
The police officers who visited the scene launched an investigation and began reviewing the CCTV footage to clearly identify and apprehend the suspects.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the victims were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary for postmortem and preservation.

DCI officer kills 2 suspected robbers in Siaya
In a separate incident in Yala Town, Siaya county, two suspected gang members were fatally shot by a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer during a robbery attempt.
The shooting occurred when the suspects reportedly attacked the officer with a metal rod in the chest and attempted to flee the scene.
One of the deceased was identified as Charles Odhiambo Ojwang’, while his colleague was not immediately identified.
