Siaya: Retired president Uhuru Kenyatta has made a solemn visit to the grave of former prime minister Raila Odinga, a day after the late statesman was laid to rest at his family’s mausoleum in Bondo.

Raila, who died on Wednesday, October 15, following cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment in India, was accorded a state funeral with full military honours.
Thousands of mourners from across the country gathered to bid farewell to the veteran opposition leader, who had played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s democratic journey.
In a video shared by NTV Kenya, Uhuru was seen at the graveside, accompanied by individuals believed to be family members.
He paused for a moment of prayer, gently stretching his hand towards the grave before departing.
Another image captured him in a relaxed conversation with Senator Oburu Oginga, Raila’s elder brother, inside the family home.

During the funeral ceremony on Sunday, October 19, Uhuru delivered a heartfelt tribute, expressing his sorrow and admiration for Raila’s lifelong service to Kenya and Africa.
He acknowledged Raila’s role in uniting the country and praised his wisdom, insight, and enduring legacy. Uhuru also extended condolences to the ODM fraternity and the people of Siaya.
He recognised Raila as a national figure whose contributions would continue to inspire future generations.
“It is important to pray for our brother as he embarks on his final journey. May God guide him. We shall miss you, Jakom, as a friend, brother, and father of this nation. We shall miss your insights, thoughtfulness, wisdom, and laughter. Your deeds will live long and I pray we will remember those deeds in actions,” he stated.
