Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s daughter Zawadi has opened up about being a member of the LGBTQ community.

In her message, Zawadi said that she was tired of hiding who she really was.

She shared photos of her mzungu wife and their lovely child in a beautiful family portrait that was admired by many.
Zawadi, who has four siblings and is the younger sister to Lupita Nyong’o, has been updating fans via her Instagram Stories.
Fans who are also members of the LGBTQ community have been DMing her, telling her that she is a source of inspiration.
One message from her fans reads:
“You literally brought light into my day. I was scrolling through mid-tears and I saw your post on my ex’s story. Coming out shouldn’t have to be a thing. But you coming out just reminded me of a love I crave but hold back cause of the ‘norm’ Coming out made me feel less alone, seen in this heteronormative existence. Thank you. I’ll forever hold this day close to my heart and etched in my core memories. Asante Zawadi.”
She also reshared an affirmation poem assuring herself that she was a goddess and worthy of love and that she was perfect with her imperfections.
Zawadi wrote:
“I AM A GODDESS! I am perfect as I am. I love, accept, and celebrate myself as I am. I am a woman who is emerging from deep within myself. I explore my darkness with compassion and celebrate my light. I am falling in love with the magnificent possibilities within myself. I know of the magic and mysterious places inside myself, the sacred places that nurture my soul and make me whole. I am a woman who radiates light. I am magnetic. I attract that which serves my highest good. I am healing. I am vibrating higher daily.”
