Nyabera, a former employee at KBC, was reportedly stabbed eight times by unknown assailants, killing him instantly.
Where was William Nyabera killed?
He was on his way home from church in Nakuru when the attack occurred, leaving his family in deep grief and searching for answers to the many unanswered questions surrounding his murder.
The attackers struck him with a knife in the chest, yet they did not steal any of his belongings, making the murder all the more baffling.
Nyabera’s grieving family said they reported the incident to the police station but have yet to receive any updates on arrests, despite the authorities taking the deceased’s phone to aid the investigation. Furthermore, no one has been arrested in connection with the murder.
“We are appealing to the government for tighter security. We are not asking for complaints about the times we walk through our community; we deserve to feel safe,” said a relative of the deceased.
Another family member noted that although the officers processed the crime scene and took Nyabera’s phone, no communication about any progress has been made.

She claimed they had been left in the dark and blamed the authorities for their apparent laxity on the matter.
“Every time we visit the police station, we are given detectives’ phone numbers to call. When we try, they say they are in Nairobi or somewhere else. When we ask about his phone, they act surprised and claim they didn’t take it. What is going on?” said a devastated family member.
In a report by NTV, a police officer stated that progress had been made in the case and that they had leads.
“Very soon, I’m sure we will catch the culprits. As soon as the investigation is complete, we will update you,” he said.
Netizens sympathise with Nyabera’s family
The case has sparked public reactions, with people expressing anger over the government’s perceived inaction and the police’s handling of the situation.
William Jacobs:
“The day they said there’s a bond, that’s when everything went south… Nakuru, it feels like you’re walking among chickens.”
Edwin Ondoro:
“The government doesn’t care, and it’s all about thinking of 2027. Nakuru feels like there’s no government, and the killings are escalating.”
Isabel Githieya:
“So the police only work when they are pressured? This is extremely frustrating.”
Eveleen Mitei:
“Such a brutal act is a stark reminder of the need for justice and community vigilance. A thorough investigation and holding the perpetrators accountable is essential to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of all citizens.”
