Bomet: Missing Deputy Principal Found Dead, Body Discovered in River Itare

On Tuesday, October 21, the body of Edward Too was discovered in River Itare days after he was reported missing by his wife, Sarah Too.

When did Edward Too go missing?

“The preliminary report indicates that the deceased went missing on Saturday, 18/10/2025, and the missing person report was made at Konoin Police Station vie OB07/20/10/2025 by his wife, Sarah Too,” the Police report reads as reported by K24 TV.

Sadly, the body of Too, a teacher and Deputy Principal of Kapkilaibei Secondary School in Kimulot Ward, was discovered floating in the river near a bridge.

“At 12:38 pm, it was reported by Koiwa Location area chief, namely Emily Koech, that there was a dead body floating at River Itare near the bridge M/R YQ 306278, approximately 8km East of the station,” the police report reads.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations into the incident.

How did Bomet teachers react to Edward Too’s death?

Detectives visited the scene and took photographic evidence, with preliminary investigations showing the body had no visible injuries.

The body was moved to Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation, pending a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Speaking to the press, Bomet KUPPET Gender Secretary Norah Cherukwen said Too’s death is a big blow to the teaching fraternity of Bomet County.

Cherukwen remembered Too as a dedicated, humble, and selfless teacher whose commitment to education and mentorship profoundly impacted students and colleagues.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Too. He was a devoted teacher and a source of inspiration to many within the education fraternity. His kindness, professionalism, and passion for his work will be greatly missed,” Cherukwen said.

How Bomet JSS teacher died

In a related incident, residents of the Kabisimba area in Chepalungu, Bomet county, were left in shock following the death of a 38-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher who had just been employed in Nakuru county.

Citizen TV reported that the lifeless body of the teacher was discovered inside the roof space of a toilet within his homestead early Tuesday morning.

According to a police report, Nelly Bett, the deceased’s wife, stated that her husband left their house during the early hours to visit the latrine but failed to return.

Concerned by his prolonged absence, she investigated and was devastated to find his body hanging inside the toilet.
