JKIA, Nairobi: Frenda Chelangat, a woman who left the country for greener pastures in Saudi Arabia but sadly fell ill, has finally returned to the country.

It has emerged that while in Saudi Arabia, Frenda developed a mental health issue and was allegedly subjected to severe, harsh, and brutal torture.
In a letter seen, written by Kesses Member of Parliament (MP), Julius Rutto, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was acknowledged that the young woman faced immeasurable pain.
“She was on a two-year visa, and her agency, NACLA Travel Agency, denied her a travel visa,” said MP Rutto.

How did Frenda Chelangat’s MP help?
After Kenyans learned of what the young Frenda was going through, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rutto, and Kate Kirui, woman rep hopeful for Uasin Gishu county, swung into action to help her.

Frenda landed back in the country on October 24, and her return is a true story of faith and resilience.
“We thank God for bringing our daughter, Frenda Chelangat, safely back home from Saudi Arabia after a difficult journey. Her return is a true story of faith, resilience, and answered prayers,” said Rutto.
“I sincerely appreciate PS Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu for her swift intervention and kind support throughout this process,” he added.

Woman who returned from Saudi dies
In another story, a woman from Murguiywa in Trans Nzoia county mourned the death of Agnes Shibeka who died days after returning from Saudi Arab
Her passing shocked her family, friends, and Team Gulf Club, a network of Kenyans who work abroad.
