Will ODM endorse Ruto in 2027?
Speaking in Bondo, during the ODM grassroots leaders’ visit to the acting party leader, Oburu Oginga, Salah stated that the party leader had urged members to stay united.
He further said that Raila had left ODM inside the Kenya Kwanza and was working closely with William Ruto, asserting that things should not change.
“Baba wanted to back Ruto. I am telling you today. He said that he wanted ODM to be strong so that when we endorse Ruto, it might be impactful,” Oketch said.
He said that he was in the company of Raila when they were alighting from a plane that had come from Dubai
“Raila wanted to make ODM much stronger. Baba’s goal was very clear. His support and his heart were in support of President William Ruto. We are with him fully. Thank you so much,” he said.
During the same event, the ODM party announced that its delegates from Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay counties endorsed Oburu to succeed Raila as the party leader.
They argued that Oburu’s experience in the political space over the years makes him capable of leading the party.

How can Ruto win 2027 General Election?
Raila’s death on October 15 complicated President William Ruto’s political strategies, thus forcing him to reassess his plans ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The former prime minister’s death somehow derailed Ruto’s plans to form a coalition with the ODM party.

Ruto might be considering a plan to review the Memorandum of Understanding he signed with ODM while Raila was still alive.
This move is reportedly meant to persuade ODM members to fully establish their working relationship to ensure his survival.
One of the options that Ruto might have on the table would be to collapse UDA, the ruling party, to formally join ODM.
Another option he might have is to dissolve Raila’s ODM and UDA and come up with a new political outfit, which he would serve as both the flag bearer and the party leader.
