In 2020, Raila estimated his net worth to be around KSh2 billion, with a significant portion invested in real estate and company shares, rather than liquid cash.
He clarified that his wealth was modest and shared among the Odinga family, which, according to him, did not inherit much.
Among his assets was a residence in Karen, valued at about KSh 300 million. He also owns several homes across the country, including a property along the coast.

1. How big is Raila’s Riat Hills home?

However, his most impressive residence is located in Riat Hills, Kisumu county.
In December 2021, Raila gave the public a rare look inside his luxurious estate during a Christmas celebration.
The event, dubbed Baba’s Christmas Wonderland, drew hundreds of attendees.
The celebration included entertainment such as bouncing castles and performers, while Raila distributed food items, including biscuits, maize flour, and milk, to the community.

The mansion, overlooking Kisumu International Airport, is notable for its striking architecture and brown-tiled roof, making it resemble a luxury hotel.

4. Inside Raila’s Riat Hills home

In May 2022, Raila and his wife, Ida, hosted an African Union delegation, offering the first public view of the mansion’s interior.
The golden-themed living room, complete with a chandelier and matching furniture, impressed guests with its elegance and sophistication.
Observers on social media noted that the interior reflected a classic “old money” style, suitable for the couple’s stature and age.
Inside Kang’o Ka Jaramogi
Elsewhere, Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, the ancestral home of the Odinga family, also serves as a mausoleum and family burial site where Raila and his son Fidel were laid to rest.
The compound, surrounded by mature trees and accessed through green gates, contains multiple houses, including Raila’s first home, known as Simba.
Within the grounds stands the mausoleum of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, marked by lion statues and distinctive pillars.

One section of the homestead was turned into the Jaramogi Memorial Museum, showcasing his personal belongings such as hats, shoes, and flywhisks.
