With tears rolling down her face, Rashidi painfully recounted the chilling ordeal that made her heart sink.
“On that fateful day, I was arranging my clothes in preparation for going home because my husband, whom we had been married for only two months, had told me the previous day that I would be leaving. As I arranged my clothes, he took a white cloth and put it on the floor. He asked me what I saw, and I said nothing except the white piece of cloth.
He kept asking me again and again, lightly hitting me on the head until I answered the way he wanted. He then pushed me. I fell to the floor, and because of the force, I was almost unconscious,” she narrated.
Rashidi runs with dead daughter to mother-in-law
Her husband then turned his attention to his stepdaughter, whom he had promised to love, care for, and protect as his own child.
He began hitting and mistreating her as Rashidi watched helplessly, unable to intervene after being pushed down.
“I tried to tell him to stop, but he said hurtful things about my daughter. He dragged her to the back door, placed her in the middle, and covered her with the cloth she was wearing, saying, ‘It is a murder case.’ I did not know my daughter was gone,” she said emotionally.
She took her daughter and ran to her mother-in-law, explaining what had happened to the little girl.
Did Rashidi’s husband show signs of violence?
Her mother-in-law advised Rashidi to take her daughter back to the crime scene until the police arrived.
“When I touched her head, it was swollen. One leg was broken,” she said heartbreakingly as she fought back tears.
Before the incident, Rashidi said her Tanzanian husband had never shown signs of violence and had made many promises to her, including caring for her daughter.
However, two months into the marriage, her husband changed, and the incident revealed his true character.

Nairobi family of woman killed by husband speaks
In another story, a family in Nairobi county broke their silence after their daughter was allegedly killed by her husband.
The family said Susan Nabwire from Pipeline refused to give her M-Pesa PIN to her husband, leading to a fight.
Nabwire’s househelp and child were left traumatised after the suspect, Cyprian Mukoye, killed her.
