Vihiga: Man Arrested After Being Found in Possession of 320 Rolls of cannabis

Vihiga: The National Police Service has announced the arrest of a man who was found in possession of 320 rolls of Cannabis.

According to a statement issued by the National Police Service man was arrested after they received a tip-off.

Where was Vihiga suspect arrested?

They then carried out an operation in Mpaka Village and arrested the suspect.

“Yesterday, officers from the National Police Service, acting on a tip-off, conducted an operation in Mpaka Village and arrested a suspect in possession of 320 rolls of cannabis,” the police statement read in part.

Following the arrest, the suspect was escorted to the police station and put behind bars. This pends processing and his arraignment in court.

The drugs found were taken as evidence at the same station where the suspect was being detained.

The Service commends the officers for their steadfast commitment to combating narcotics and illicit brews,” the police added.

In a previous incident, undercover police announced that they had seized 90 kilograms of bhang in an intelligence-led operation.

The officers from Changamwe Police Station had received intelligence about the bhang, which set up an undercover ambush along the Changamwe roundabout.

The officers had their eyes set on the Buscar Bus Limited vehicle, which was suspected to be ferrying narcotics.

During the interception, the officers offloaded a suspicious bale that was disguised as a bale carrying second-hand clothes.

Moments later, a man on a boda boda arrived at the scene to collect the package. This was when officers pounced on him and arrested him.

The bag in which the drug was found had the drug substances placed in a black polythene bag and draped in clothing to mask its contents.

The suspect was detained at Changamwe Police Station and was arraigned once the investigation was completed.

Further, the service reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and launched a crackdown on networks dealing with illicit substances.
