The paper reported the tragic Murang’a accident, which left six family members dead and others seriously injured.
A police report indicated the vehicle carrying several people from the same village lost control and plunged into the Kiama River, Muranga County.
Six other passengers escaped with injuries and were rushed to the hospital, police said of the Sunday dawn incident.
The victims were members of the same extended family returning from a dowry ceremony in the Nazareth area of Kiambu County.
Among the deceased were a husband and wife, police said. The accident occurred at Wacengu Bridge on the River Kiama on Sunday, October 26.

The publication reported the details about the ODM party’s Central Management Committee meeting to be chaired by Senator Oburu Oginga.
The Siaya senator is expected to officially take over the party leadership following the death of his younger brother, Raila Odinga.
The meeting by the party’s top organ is expected to set the tone for the 2027 polls, and officials will also discuss how “rebels” will be handled.
Dennis Onyango, a former spokesperson of Raila, dismissed reports that the meeting is to deal with the crisis in the party.
He described today’s meeting as routine housekeeping business that is expected of any organisation that has lost its leader.
“It is not a crisis meeting. It would be a crisis if ODM could not bring itself to meet after the departure of Raila. There are pending issues like ODM@20 celebrations and demands that more Raila memorials be held in many other parts of Kenya,” Onyango said.

The meeting comes amid the revelation that Oburu’s installation as ODM boss was hatched by pro-broad-based politicians, who were uncomfortable with Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o taking over the position.
Nyong’o and his Siaya counterpart, James Orengo, have been perceived as not being fully behind the broad-based arrangement.
The two governors are not members of the party’s top decision-making organ that will make major decisions that are likely to shape Raila’s succession within the party.

The Kiswahili publication reported on how a multi-agency team led by the Kenya Navy intercepted a vessel carrying methamphetamine valued at KSh 8.2 billion.
In a statement, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said six Iranian nationals were arrested in a major anti-narcotics operation in the Indian Ocean.
According to KDF, the multi-agency team recovered 1024 kilograms of methamphetamine in an operation that took place 630km off the coast of Mombasa
“The Kenya Navy intercepted a non-registered dhow codenamed ‘IGOR’ and seized 1024 kilograms of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately 8.2 billion shillings, 630 kilometres East of Mombasa Coast. The stateless dhow, which had been under the watch of international drug enforcement agencies, had repeatedly evaded prior crackdowns until its interception by the Kenyan Navy,” KDF said on Sunday, October 26.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula strongly defended the recently enacted Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes (Amendment) Act, 2025.
During a church service in Kakamega county on Sunday, October 26, Wetang’ula dismissed claims that the law seeks to curtail freedom of expression.
According to the speaker, the law aims to promote responsible digital behaviour while combating violent extremism, online exploitation, and the spread of cultism in Kenya.
“Sometimes, as a Catholic, I feel saddened when people spread falsehoods about this law. The Act is not meant to gag anyone or restrict legitimate expression,” Wetang’ula said.
