Authorities said the attack occurred roughly one kilometre from her school, just as she was preparing for her Day three examinations.
The discovery has left the local community in shock, with residents describing the scene as horrifying, with anger and grief running deep among them.
Johana Kamilan, a local resident, expressed disbelief at the brutality, pointing out that her assailants knew she was a student while molesting her.
“A child has been butchered like a chicken while in school uniform. How could this happen to this child? We are filled with intense anger,” Kamilan said, capturing the locals’ outrage.
Local law enforcement officers confirmed the incident through Enrico Telewa, OCPD of Transmara South.
He explained that the local chief first went to confirm the presence of a body before notifying authorities.
“The chief went to confirm there was a body, and from there he came and reported it,” Telewa said.

Chelangat’s family is grappling with immense grief since she lost her mother and relied heavily on her siblings for support, a reality her aunt shared while appealing for justice.
“That child had no mother and was dependent on their siblings. We want justice,” she said, highlighting the personal tragedy layered onto a community-wide sense of loss.
Police have launched a multi-agency investigation into the attack as officers canvassed the area, collecting evidence from the sugarcane plantation where Chelangat’s body was found.

The suspects remain unidentified, prompting authorities to appeal to the public for assistance in apprehending those responsible.
“We ask any citizens who have information that will help us find these criminals to take it to the nearest police station,” Telewa added.
Chelangat’s body was transported to Lolgoria Level 5 Hospital, where forensic examinations are expected to provide further details on the crime.
Investigators hope that forensic evidence, combined with witness accounts, will help piece in the clues and bring the perpetrators to justice.
