Nairobi: Rose Otieno, the wife of former Homa Bay County senator Otieno Kajwang’, has died, TUKO.co.ke has confirmed.

According to sources who wished to remain anonymous, Rose passed away on Thursday, October 30.

Rose worked as a lecturer at Kenyatta University and headed the alumni body for a while.

The scholar fondly eulogised her husband when he passed away in 2014 and narrated their love story.

“I was living with my sister in Buruburu and was on bus number 58. As I was riding, I noticed this tall man with a bright smile. When I sat down, he came over and asked me to sit next to him. Just five minutes later, the bus broke down,” she reminisced.

They switched to another bus, but it also broke down, forcing them to take yet another ride

How did Otieno Kajwang’ meet his wife?

Rose then continued with their love story, which began with the unusual events of that day, eventually leading them to a local crusade.

“There was a crusade at Buruburu shopping centre that day, and I told him I usually attended because I took my sister’s little boy for Bible study. He said, ‘I go there too,’ but later I found out he’d never actually been,” she said with a chuckle.

“Gerald was such a funny man,” Rose added, causing the crowd to laugh.

Her story painted a vivid picture of Kajwang’s humorous and light-hearted nature.

Though she had experienced a deep loss, Rose remained hopeful.

“I loved my husband, and I still do. I know one day we will meet again in heaven because he was a good man, and a handsome one too. I will miss him,” she concluded, her voice filled with both love and sorrow.

According to the source who wished to remain anonymous, Rose had been battling cancer and had previously gone into remission before her death.

In other news, Kasmuel McOure faced backlash after sharing details about former prime minister Raila Odinga’s health.

In 2010, Raila was hospitalised in Nairobi following a head injury, and doctors performed a procedure to relieve pressure on his brain caused by a vein leakage.

During a recent visit to King’s College Hospital in Dubai, doctors discovered a condition at the back of his head that was deemed too risky to operate on, so he was prescribed medication and placed under observation.
