“He had only gone for a check-up and a second opinion for his treatment. He did not even stay in the hospital. You know, Jakom was also not a young person, so he had other issues that were affecting him. He was discharged, and he went to the resort, where people get massages. He wanted to rest, and we had also bought our tickets to Dubai before we returned to Kenya,” she said.
According to her, Raila questioned how she managed to carry fish during the flight and asked her if there was more left for him to eat later.
“I cooked him fish, which he ate a day before he died. He even asked me where I got it from. India has fish from the ocean, but I had carried fish from home. I also carried traditional vegetables. He asked me how I carried them, and I told him that I know how I travel. He ate well, including his daughter Winnie and Maurice Ogeta. He then asked me if the fish was over, and if he could get some the next day, and I told him I would make it as nice as I did,” she added.
She further narrated that Raila went to eat chapati and green grams that were offered at the facility during dinner before going to bed.
Ruth also added that Raila did not suffer in his death and recalled how their dad, Jaramogi Oginga, also died a quick, painless death.
