A disappointed and heartbroken man has shared his pain after cutting ties with his stepdaughter and asking her to move out of his home.

George (not his real name), a truck driver, explained that he had been part of the young woman’s life since she was just four months old, after he started dating her mother.
He married her mother when the girl was two years old, and he treated her as his own daughter, providing for her, showing up for her, and giving her the fatherly love she needed.
Why did man cut off his stepdaughter?
However, when her graduation day arrived, she did not invite George.
“They told me there were only eight tickets. Here’s who made the list: my wife, her two sisters, her biological father, her uncle, grandmother, aunt, and her boyfriend. That’s eight, and I wasn’t one of them,” he explained.
The heartbroken man revealed that he had taken three days off work specifically for his stepdaughter’s graduation, only to be met with cold treatment as though he wasn’t part of her educational journey.
“I’ve been carrying that pain all day. I took three days off work to be there. I’m a truck driver—that’s time and money I can’t get back. And yet, I was left out,” he said.
George explained that being excluded from the graduation made him realise that his stepdaughter no longer seemed to need him. Feeling deeply hurt, he decided to cut her off. He removed her from his health and car insurance, as well as from all the financial support he had been providing.
He also told his wife to ask her daughter to move in with her biological father since she was now old enough to make her own decisions and needed to make space for her real dad.
“Now, there’s tension in the house. Emotions are running high, but I’m standing firm in how I feel. I’m not angry, I’m hurt. Deeply, genuinely hurt,” he added.
