The Siaya senator is happily married to Anne Ayoo and Judith Oburu. Both wives have their own houses in Nairobi and Siaya counties.
Oburu introduced his beautiful wives during Raila Odinga’s state funeral on October 19.

During Raila’s funeral, Oburu lovingly introduced his second wife, revealing she works with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

The 82-year-old politician gave the reason he married a younger wife, leaving mourners in stitches.
“My elder wife, Dr Anne Ayoo Oburu is here…we grew together, but I thought now that at my age, I don’t want her to scratch me and massage me, so I brought her a helper, Judith Oburu,” he said amid laughter.
On October 29, Rigathi Gachagua’s allies, Kiambu senator and his Nyandarua counterpart, John Methu, visited Oburu at his Nairobi home.
They were warmly received by Oburu and his second wife at their palatial home. The visitors comforted Oburu following his loss and gifted him three sheep.
Judith was dressed in a decent official skirt suit during the visitation. Photos from the special moment went viral, with many commenting on the politician’s second wife’s looks and dress code.

Does polygamy work?
Relationship and marriage counsellor Jane Murimi, while weighing in on polygamous relationships, opined that they don’t work.
“During Raila’s state funeral, you could tell that the first wife wasn’t happy at all. The wearer of the shoe knows where it hurts. It can never work. We are only seeing it working as the man makes us believe so…why don’t we have women introducing their co-wives if it’s indeed working?” she said.
Murimi said that any polygamous man should marry two women at a go instead of getting another spouse after several years in marriage.
“An honest polygamous man will court both women at the same time and settle with them at the same time. Why wait after ten or so years to remarry?”
She insisted that polygamy doesn’t work, using examples of famous Kikuyu musicians in polygamous marriages.
“Look at DeMathew, after his death, despite fronting his two wives and seeing them together on several occasions, true colours were revealed. Muigai Njoroge, the same. The first wife couldn’t stand it… Polygamy is working on social media, but in reality never! Even in yesteryears, as people claim how our grandfathers got second wives, reality hits after their demise. A lot of rivalry amongst the siblings, truth be told, it doesn’t work,” she shared.

Oparanya, who is proudly polygamous, is never shy of introducing his two wives and a girlfriend to the public.
