The August House dismissed a viral letter that falsely claimed four individuals had been nominated to President William Ruto’s Cabinet.
Has Sifuna been nominated to Cabinet?
The fake letter, which appeared official, alleged that Nairobi senator and ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna, Nyandarua senator John Methu, former Baringo senator Gideon Moi, and Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda had been selected for new Cabinet slots.
The document, purportedly signed by National Assembly clerk Samuel Njoroge, was addressed to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
It claimed to request an integrity and background review of the supposed nominees in line with public service vetting procedures.
It further indicated that the reviews were to be completed by Thursday, November 6, suggesting that the process was already underway.
The forged letter cited “constitutional obligations to ensure transparency and integrity” in top government appointments, which made it appear legitimate to many Kenyans online.
Are Sifuna and Methu’s nominations fake?
However, parliament swiftly refuted the claims, stating that the letter did not originate from any official parliamentary office.
The institution cautioned Kenyans to be wary of misinformation and avoid spreading unverified documents.
“This document is not from the National Assembly or Parliament of Kenya. It is fake. Kindly disregard it,” parliament said in its social media pages.

The circulation of the forged document comes amid reports of a looming Cabinet reshuffle in the Ruto-led government.
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that the president was intending to reorganise his administration to mirror the shifting political environment ahead of the 2027 elections.
This followed an alleged plan to strengthen his influence in regions that were once strongholds of the late ODM leader Raila Odinga.
According to sources, Ruto’s strategy includes weakening resistance within ODM while expanding his base by reaching out to leaders from Rift Valley, Lower Eastern, and Western Kenya.
Will Ruto appoint ODM members to Cabinet?
His remarks during Raila’s burial in Bondo, where he vowed not to let anyone dismantle ODM, fueled speculation that he could be preparing a merger or alliance between ODM and his UDA party.
There are growing indications that a Cabinet reshuffle may be on the horizon, with changes likely to affect individuals previously reliant on Raila’s political support.

It is also reported that Raila, shortly before his death, had planned to meet Ruto to discuss possible adjustments in government, further heightening speculation that the two leaders had already agreed on a wider political deal.
Ruto already met and extended an invitation to Gideon Moi and his KANU to join the Kenya Kwanza administration and may include leaders from Kalonzo Musyoka’s Ukambani region.
Speculation is also rife that Raila’s daughter, Winnie Odinga, could be considered for a Cabinet position as part of the president’s efforts to consolidate national unity and political stability.
