Comedian-turned-businessman Sammy Kioko has announced his decision to close down his clothing business, Kioko Designs.

Recently, Kioko revealed that he had spent the night outside Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti’s office awaiting his pay.
The Churchill Show comedian ventured into the clothing business.
Why did Kioko camp outside governor’s office?
The funnyman, who had built his brand of comedy over the years, camped outside the county boss’ office over unpaid work.
Kioko was frustrated, revealing that some of his friends had lied that they were connected and would help him see the governor.
He said he was camping outside the Machakos governor ‘s office, revealing that he had supplied goods to the county government, but had not received payment.
The funnyman disclosed that he had been waiting for the funds for nearly two years and was getting frustrated.
Why Kioko is closing down his business
Nearly a week after his revelation, Kioko announced that he had closed down his clothing line.
Kioko shared that he had tried to stay afloat, but it had become increasingly difficult to continue operating.
“The worst that I was fearing is happening. It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing the closure of our shops and production areas. Despite our best efforts, we’ve faced significant challenges that have made it impossible for us to continue operating,” he shared.
He expressed his gratitude to his customers and supporters, as well as his team members who had been part of his journey.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers, supporters, and team members who’ve been part of this journey. Your encouragement has meant the world to us. Not a goodbye, but a see you later. We won’t get tired of knocking the county offices, God above everything,” he wrote.
Kioko later leaked a screenshot of one of his team members expressing their grievances over pay, admitting that it had become increasingly hard to work without pay.
He captioned the screenshot:
“When it affects family, people close to me and employees, it becomes my biggest nightmare. No handouts or contributions needed. All we need is the county of Machakos to listen and pay us, and that’s all. It’s sad that Machakos is also where I call home.”
One of his employees noted that sales had declined, while another reported that they were unable to pay rent.
“Good morning. We just wanted to kindly follow up on the payment. Things have really been out of our line. I was locked out of the house. and I’m currently staying with a friend. We’d really appreciate it if something could be done. Please, we would really appreciate it,” the employee wrote.
