A young Tanzanian lady has painfully mourned her beloved friend, who died after informing her that he would participate in the protests that rocked the neighbouring country after the General Election.

For the better part of last week, reports of deadly post-poll protests were reported in various parts of Tanzania, with the Opposition claiming the death toll was about 700.
Tanzanians were also under an internet blackout until Monday, November 3, when it was restored partially and with stern warnings not to share disturbing photos on social media platforms.
On TikTok, several Tanzanians have poured their hearts out as they now mourn their loved ones who allegedly died in the protests.
Lady mourns beloved friend
One such TikToker is a young lady identified as @Ukt, who shared her last chats with her beloved pal Derrick, who died after informing her that he was attending the protests.
The young lady, who admitted she was in disbelief following the young man’s death, shared a screenshot of their chats showing that he was urging her to join the protests.
“Prepare for the protests, lady,” he told her while laughing at her WhatsApp status.
However, the lady told him she would not join the protests. The man would later comment on her Status again, and they both shared a hearty light moment.
Sadly, this was one of their last chats as the young man is now dead.
The lady shared screenshots showing her attempts to call him again.
She mourned him painfully, saying she could not believe that he was dead.
The young woman also shared photos with Derrick, showing they shared beautiful memories.

In the comment section, many joined in mourning Derrick, with a majority of the netizens describing him as a hero.

Siaya family seeks help after kin died in Tanzania
In other news, a Kenyan family is now also seeking help after their kin also died during the post-poll violence in Tanzania.
The family urged the Kenyan government to help in repatriating the body of the man, who was a teacher.
The family revealed that for eight years, John Okoth had built a quiet life in Dar es Salaam until the post-election violence cut it short.
