Former president Uhuru Kenyatta has opened up about how his daughter Ngina Kenyatta’s dowry negotiations went down.

Uhuru was among late banker Frank Marangu Ireri’s friends who got to eulogise him during his funeral mass.
The mass was held at Karura Community Chapel on October 31. The politician got emotional while recalling memories with Ireri.
When did Ngina Kenyatta get married?
The father of three, during his tribute to his late friend, revealed that Ireri had a major part to play in his daughter’s marriage negotiations.
Uhuru’s daughter, Ngina Kenyatta, tied the knot with Alex Mwai in a secretive traditional wedding in June 2022.
Photos from the traditional wedding leaked in 2022 and the politician’s daughter was seen wearing traditional wedding attire.
The former head of state revealed that he had tried to delay Ngina’s wedding using some tricks. For one, he admitted that he blamed COVID-19, then he blamed the 2022 elections, further delaying the wedding.
He admitted that saying goodbye to a daughter could be hard during Kalonzo Musyoka’s daughter’s wedding celebrations in 2024.
Uhuru revealed that Ireri played a major role in his daughter’s dowry negotiations. He helped convince the politician to let Ngina get married.

He disclosed that the late banker was related to his son-in-law.
“When one of his in-laws in the name of Sam Mwai wanted to start making approaches wondering how to do so because there was a young man named Alex who was interested in somebody who lived in my compound and somebody who I was not very eager to part with and as we started engaging, Frank would make sure that all of us were very comfortable,” he said.
