Ida was widowed following the death of Kenya’s former prime minister, Raila Odinga.
Since then, his burial site at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo has turned into a shrine.
Daily, Kenyans visit Raila’s grave to pay their last respects to the politician, who fought for multiparty democracy and Kenya’s current constitution, promulgated in 2010.

Why did Ida Odinga’s video touch Kenyans?
The Odinga family has welcomed Kenyans from all walks of life to visit his grave, located next to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s mausoleum.
The death hit Ida hard, as she recently confessed during a visit by widows.
She admitted that Raila’s death was unexpected, as his treatment in India seemed routine.
“I didn’t see any sign that Raila would probably leave. He left me without a word,” she said.
Ida said that she was quite surprised when she was christened with a new name, “widow.”
However, amid the pain, the steady flow of visitors has lifted the grieving widow’s spirits, as a recent video demonstrates.
In the clip, Min Piny, which means mother of a nation in Dholuo, was seen outside her Opoda mansion.
Ida looks regal in a white, African-themed dress and black slip-on sandals.
A huge Nile perch fish is seen placed in a sufuria in front of her after being unloaded from a vehicle carrying other fish.
A smiling Ida playfully placed her hand into the fish’s gaping mouth, hesitating as though it would bite, before quickly withdrawing her hand while smiling.
Numerous Kenyans said that Ida looked vibrant despite the recent tragedy, noting that seeing her happy had a therapeutic effect on them.

On another light note, a resurfaced video captured one of Raila’s lighter moments during his political career.
It showed him attending an event with ODM leaders, including former Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey, who presented him with a heifer as a ceremonial gift.
The animal suddenly became agitated, causing panic as onlookers scattered. Raila quickly ran for safety, sparking laughter from the crowd as bodyguards rushed to protect him.
