Former Churchill Show comedian Sammy Kioko has decided to sell his car as his financial struggles deepen, following a delayed payment from the Machakos County Government.

The comedian has, in recent weeks, been calling out the county, claiming he is yet to be paid for products he delivered under a tender allegedly worth KSh 19 million.
Why is Sammy Kioko selling his car?
Kioko disclosed that the prolonged delay in payment has pushed him into a financial crisis, forcing him to shut down his tailoring business and lay off employees who had grown increasingly distressed by the situation.
His woes worsened after his sister was hospitalised and required surgery.
He even shared videos of her lying in a hospital bed, revealing that he had reached a difficult decision to sell his Nissan Tiida to raise funds for her treatment.
“Those who know me know that this car has been a big blessing for the past eight years. Sometimes as a man, you have to do what you have to do. I won’t say I’m selling it, but rather blessing someone else with it at a good price. This November, my goal was to take my sister for further medical attention, but time is not on our side,” he shared emotionally.
His close friend and fellow comedian Nasra Yusuf was among the first to react to the announcement, expressing heartbreak over what Kioko was going through.
“This truly breaks my heart. I’ve been calling Sammy for months, and our conversations always ended with him saying, ‘Niko tu kwa gari Naz, nashindwa kuingia kwa nyumba juu niko down and I don’t want my family to see me like this.”
She continued:
“Now he’s selling that same car, his only hiding place? And the Governor is still silent? So tukuwe patient akufe ndio alipwe ama? How hard is it to pay someone for a job they did?”

Did Machakos county do business with Kioko?
In related news, the Machakos County government responded to Kioko’s claims.
Joseph Mathuki, the county’s head of procurement, confirmed that the company Kioko mentioned had indeed been awarded a tender to supply uniforms.
However, he explained that Kioko was not listed as one of the shareholders and criticised him for speaking on the matter.
