Katondo, Zambia: Edward Chitila, a 64-year-old man, died all alone after being abandoned by his children following a divorce from his wife.

Chitila had seven children with his wife, and they all abandoned him after a long-standing family dispute. He died at his home in the early hours of Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
The matter was reported to Chowa Police Station. Prime TV2 reports that despite his failing health, Chitila was under the care of a 12-year-old boy who was not related to him.

It is believed that the family dispute stemmed from the divorce between Chitila and the children’s mother.

Why did Edward fall out with his kids?
There are further allegations that he sold four out of five of the family’s plots, a decision that reportedly led to the fallout with his children.
The death and the manner in which it happened have drawn mixed reactions on social media, with some people saying that forgiveness is paramount and one cannot fail to forgive their parent or abandon them.
On the other hand, there were people who thought that the children were right after how he treated them and their mother, so he did not have a right to expect any special treatment from them.

In another story, a Kenyan man, Joshua Mwangi, was found dead after living all alone for eight years since his wife died.
Kariuki was okay in the army; however, when he started living as a civilian, things changed, and to make the matters worse, he was diagnosed with a Grade Four cancer.
After the death of his wife, Mwangi’s children were scattered everywhere, while the second wife also took off to the Philippines with his youngest child.
