The former head of state, who recently turned 64, led the first grassroots meeting for Jubilee Party as its leader on November 7.

What did Uhuru Kenyatta say?

During his address, he reminded attendees of his guidance during the 2022 General Election, joking about how some people had ‘rebelled’ against him.

Uhuru reassured party members that he had buried the hatchet and was focused on the future.

Speaking in his native Kikuyu language, he noted that although he and his wife Margaret are technically retired, they are always ready to offer advice when needed.

He also touched on the upcoming 2027 General Elections, urging party members to avoid divisive politics and abusive behaviour, and to show respect to all leaders, including former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

Wrapping up his speech, Uhuru cracked a joke about being a ‘young-old man,’ leaving attendees laughing.

“I want you to greet all those that you have left at home, and tell them that the greetings are from a young-old man that you were with. May God bless you,” he said, chuckling as he delivered the line.
