On Sunday, November 9, the accident involved a truck, a passenger service vehicle (PSV) matatu, and a saloon car in the Maili Tano area in Isiolo County.

How did the Maili Tano accident occur?

According to preliminary police reports, the speeding truck reportedly lost its brakes at Subuiga before colliding with the other vehicles along the busy Isiolo–Meru highway.

Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, leaving several passengers trapped in the wreckage.

The truck, which was heading toward Isiolo town, lost control while descending a steep section of the highway, veered off, and crashed into vehicles before coming to a stop.

Emergency response teams, including police and medics, rushed to the scene and have since taken the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

How bad was the Maili Tano accident?

Photos and videos from the scene seen by TUKO.co.ke show how terrible the accident was, as both the PSV matatu and the personal car were extensively damaged.

The impact was massive, leaving wreckage scattered across the road.

The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Isiolo County Referral Hospital morgue. By the time of publishing, the exact number of fatalities is not known.

Police in the area have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident.
