During a church service at PAG Church in Kapsabet town on Sunday, November 9, accused some activists of continued interference with the politics of foreign countries.
Should Kenyan activists be tortured in Uganda?
According to the UDA senator, some vocal Kenyan activists have been engaging in acts that jeopardise the sovereignty of those nations.
“I want to warn our activists who are busybodies. Stop exporting your bad manners to other countries. Stop it. Uganda and Tanzania are sovereign countries,” Cherargei said.
Cherargei said that foreign countries should not tolerate people who use the name of human rights protection to interfere with and try to destroy the security of the countries they visit.
Cherargei, a close ally of President William Ruto, stated that Kenyan activists causing trouble in other countries should be punished and repatriated back home for more punishment.
He specifically asked Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his Tanzanian counterpart, Samia Suluhu, to firmly deal with Kenyan activists, whom he described as busybodies.
“We thank President Museveni for accepting to release Njagi and Oyoo. You can’t go to someone’s house to cause trouble. I want to ask President Samia and Museveni, if you get any busybodies, activists who want to destabilise the sovereignty of your country. Finya hao, warudishe nyumbani tuwamalizie,” the Nandi senator said.
Who abducted Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo?
Meanwhile, the disappearance of Njagi and Oyoo was reportedly sanctioned by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, claimed that the activists were held in a military facility under the directive of Muhoozi.
Muhoozi, who leads the Uganda People’s Defence Force UPDF) and is President Yoweri Museveni’s eldest son, allegedly ordered their detention and interrogation over their activities in Uganda.
Bobi further accused the Museveni regime of misusing state machinery to suppress dissent and intimidate critics.
