Betty passed away on November 10 after a fierce battle with leukaemia, a form of blood cancer. Following her demise, friends, relatives, and fans flocked to social media to remember their final moments together and mourn her loss.
Ngaruiya Junior, one of her close friends, shared in an interview that he attempted to call Betty’s ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, to discuss her illness, but his call went unanswered.
“Personally, I called him, but he didn’t pick up. However, there was no immediate need to call him, as her husband and family were there. But I tried to reach him. Later, Loise Kim called him and explained everything about her illness and told him we were heading to Kenyatta,” he stated.
Ngaruiya particularly recalled a past conversation with Betty and her husband, Tash. He shared that during the conversation, they discussed the musician’s new land and where Tash had expressed a wish to be buried.

He noted that despite Betty being ill and from Kiambaa, he doubted she would be buried there, as the decision would ultimately lie with her family.
“I may not want to mention much, but I don’t think she’ll be buried there. She had her own land, which she had bought with her husband Tash. I think she will be buried there, because they even wanted to build a house together. Though it’s up to the family to decide, I know she had that land in Maragua. In fact, one time, as we were eating together, she said she loved the place, and her husband responded by saying he would be buried there. I think she will be buried there, but the family will decide,” noted Ngaruiya.

How was Betty Bayo’s final days like?
Shiru wa GP, in an emotional tribute, shared Betty’s last moments before she was rushed to the hospital.
She said the musician fell seriously ill while at home and had been bleeding in bed. Shiru recalled that Betty walked to her car and began honking to alert neighbours of her condition.
Those who responded rushed her to AAR Hospital, but her health deteriorated, leading to a stroke on one side of her body.
Doctors confirmed a blood clot in her brain. Betty was later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she passed away two days later.
What is the budget for Betty Bayo’s funeral?
In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that plans for the burial of the gospel musician kicked off with the formation of a burial committee to oversee the process.
The committee, comprising friends and family, drafted a budget of KSh 5 million, set to cover all funeral plans and expenses.
Gospel singer Ben Githae called on mourners to contribute towards the burial to give the late musician a fitting send-off.
