The X community has been plunged into mourning following the death of freelance journalist Kibet Bernard.

Reports of Kibet’s death first surfaced on Friday, November 14, with tributes pouring in from peers like Cyprian Nyakundi.
The journalist who joined X in 2012 boasted over 76,000 followers and ran a personal blog.
Kibet also wrote opinion pieces in newspapers, with one pinned on his profile delving into President William Ruto’s championing a united Africa.

What happened to Kibet Bernard?
Kibet called for multifaceted integration in the Global South.
He rallied African countries to create conducive conditions to attract investment. He also called for African countries to teach students African history and invest heavily in industry, among other suggestions.
“My Voice on a United Africa. For Africa, an important intermediate step toward integration into the world economy is promoting regional integration at home.”
Fellow X user Jethro Koech first announced Kibet’s death, admitting that he was devastated.
“Today is another sad day. I still can’t believe you are no longer with us. You had such a promising future ahead of you. Rest in peace, bro.”
However, he did not divulge details about what happened to Kibet.
A spot check by TUKO.co.ke established that Kibet last posted on X on Friday, October 31.
He promoted the Kenya International Theatre (KIT) Festival, which was scheduled for early November at the Kenya National Theatre.
“Are you ready for the Biggest KIT fest in Nairobi? You are all welcome.
Last year we danced indoors; this year, we dance everywhere,” an excited Kibet wrote.
How did Kenyans mourn Kibet Bernard?
Kibet’s death shocked many X users, who recalled their interactions, with some saying that he offered them opportunities and support.
X user @Talisman_Jame told TUKO.co.ke that Kibet supported him in getting influencer jobs.
