What did Viny Mlai do in prison?
His most recent release, Ringo, came out less than two weeks before his conviction.
He was found guilty of defilement, and the sentence was delivered by Magistrate Lilian Maina at the Meru Law Courts. While some Kenyans welcomed the ruling, others suggested the musician could consider appealing the decision.
On Friday, November 14, photos and a video of an almost unrecognisable Viny in prison uniforms surfaced on social media.
Wearing the striped black and white attire, Viny had shaved his hair as per the prison requirements.
A video of the performance showed that the crowd was quite excited.
He was backed up by fellow inmates, some wearing Maasai shukas.
Viny urged the crowd to clap as he showcased his rapping skills.
The artiste-turned-prisoner was performing as 24 women inmates and seven facilitators graduated with certificates at Meru Women’s Prison.
