According to Shiru, Betty struggled with the perception that others hated her, particularly online.
She recalled her friend’s pain, saying:
“You died thinking that everyone hated you, you were traumatised by social media bullying. You used to ask me, ‘What do they want from me?’ You were the most trolled and bullied artiste that I can recall. Even in your hospital bed, you were terrified of being mocked for your illness and suffering. I hope that your children will never go through the same pain you went through on social media and in society. All I hope is that they will be treated with kindness for God’s sake.”
Shiru, while struggling to speak through tears, reassured Betty that her fears were unfounded.
“My friend, how I wish that you could open your eyes and see how much people loved you. The country and the world is celebrating you. Your music and ministry cannot be wiped by death. You should never have left.”
