According to Zaituni’s mother, Stella Wanja, Friday, November 14, had begun like any other, unaware that her life would take a dark turn.
How Zaituni went missing
Nairobi social worker Juliana Olayo told TUKO.co.ke that Stella, who works at the Export Processing Zone (EPZ), left home early in the morning and headed to work.
She expected her daughter, a Grade 8 pupil, to finish her chores before heading to school as was her routine.
When Stella returned that evening, the house was silent, the chores untouched, and Zaituni nowhere to be found.
“I searched the neighbourhood for hours, but no one had seen her. All the chores I’d assigned were undone, meaning she never left the house for school,” she shared.
Where was Zaituni last seen?
When she reported the matter to authorities, she was asked to return after 48 hours, as stipulated by the law. The painful waiting period elapsed with still no sign of the teenager.
With panic beginning to sink in, the lack of witnesses made the situation even more distressing for the family.
“The teen was last in Kitengela near Three Ways. Sadly, no one saw her leave, so we cannot tell how she was dressed on the day she disappeared,” she added, her voice breaking.
Since the disappearance was shared online, Stella has been receiving calls from unknown numbers claiming the girl has been spotted in Narok.

How to contact Zaituni ‘s mother
However, every time she tries to verify the callers’ identities, the numbers turn out to be spam, a cruel twist deepening her fears that scammers may be exploiting her pain for profit.
The family is now pleading with the public to help trace the missing teenager and either report to the police of contact Zaituni’s mother through +254 727 322 760.
Stella continues to cling to hope that someone, somewhere, has seen her daughter, and will help bring her safely home.
