The woman, identified in a now-viral video, was filmed outside her home complaining about all the things she had allegedly endured at the hands of her husband.
She claimed that her husband had taken a loan of KSh 1 million, made her the guarantor, and now she was the one left to repay it.
Who provides for Kitengela woman’s family?
The devastated woman shared that despite the financial strain, she was still the one providing for the family’s basic needs.
“I pay for everything, he buys nothing for the house, and he still beats me up. When will I ever finish paying the loan for him? He doesn’t even buy food for the kids. I provide everything, and he can still afford to be violent,” she said bitterly.
She went on to explain that her husband had thrown her belongings out of the house in an attempt to force her out, something that enraged her.
While addressing the neighbours who had gathered to witness the incident, she stated that her husband had threatened her life multiple times, and she was ready for him.
One of the neighbours tried to calm her down, urging her to leave everything to God, but she was unrelenting.
“I had already reported him to the police. Some things we can’t leave for God; we have to handle them ourselves. If you’re saying God will pay me, when will he do so?” she stated.
She insisted that she would not leave her house because she had spent her own money to build it, including the latrine they use.
“Some people think he helped me set up my business, but that’s false. He can’t even take care of our children,” she added.
Netizens react to clip of Kitengela woman confronting hubby
The video triggered strong reactions from Kenyans online, with some expressing sympathy for the woman’s struggle, while others commented on the dynamics of men and women in relationships.
Timothy Mbugua:
“No law says you automatically pay a loan when someone lists you as the guarantor. You have to consent in writing by means of a signature.”
Gylord A Onzere Jnr:
“For her not to say where the money went speaks volumes. She knows why she’s hiding part of the story.”
Mariam Dominic:
“I think some men who do this are on a revenge mission. It’s not that they don’t have money themselves, but they seek revenge because of what they’ve gone through with women who’ve done the same to them.”

“Haki men, sometimes you are expected to be supported by your father-in-law, have school fees paid, rent covered, shopping done for you, a car bought for you, loans paid, these are reversed roles. Men, you are the head. The minute you allow all this, you’ll be disrespected. It’s bad… boy child, wake up!”
