Pilipili, born Emmanuel Mathias, passed away on Sunday, November 16, just hours before he was scheduled to perform at a show he had already been booked for.
The cause of his death remains unclear, with initial reports indicating that he had already passed away by the time he was rushed to Dodoma General Hospital. There have also been claims of foul play in his sudden death.

In the wake of his passing, close friends and family have been sharing tributes online to honour his memory.

Among them was MC Waudeche Samwel Jonas, who took to Facebook to mourn the fallen comedian by sharing screenshots of their private WhatsApp chats.
The leaked conversations showed that in the days leading up to Pilipili’s death, Waudeche had reached out to him simply to check on him after a long period without communication.
In one message, Waudeche wrote:
“Sawa mkuu, nimeona nikutafute maana ni muda sana hatujawasiliana.” (“Alright chief, I thought I should reach out because it’s been a long time since we last spoke.”
Pilipili reassured him that he was doing well and in good health.
Their final exchange took place on Friday, November 14, after Waudeche reacted to a WhatsApp status that Pilipili had posted.
“Mungu mzuri sana, aendelee kukuinua zaidi brother,” Waudeche wrote. (“God is very good, may He continue to lift you higher, brother).

Waudeche later replied to another status with laughing emojis, unknowingly marking the last time he would ever communicate with his friend.
How did Waudeche mourn MC Pilipili?
In his emotional tribute, Waudeche expressed disbelief at Pilipili’s sudden passing, especially given how recently the two had spoken.
He praised the comedian as a role model to many young people in Dodoma, noting that he had personally inspired him.
“You’ve made a very big contribution in these two areas, and I can say the same about many other things you accomplished. You showed through your actions that you can do what you love, succeed in it, and leave a legacy. You put Dodoma on the map, and you never hid where you came from. Everywhere you went, you said you were from Dodoma and that you were a Mgogo. You represented our tribe so well,” he wrote.

What happened to Betty Bayo?
In other sad news, TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that gospel singer Betty Bayo passed away on Monday, November 10.
The Siyabonga hitmaker died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.
Betty is survived by her husband, Hiram Gitau, and her two children, Sky Victor and Danivictor, whom she shared with her ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari.
