Kanyari and Betty had two children, Sky and Dani Victor, before they separated and Betty remarried.
Following her death, conversations began to arise online about who would take custody of the singer’s children now that she was gone.
While Betty and her husband Tash lived with the children, she had a smooth co-parenting relationship with Kanyari.
The preacher had recently addressed the issue of his children’s custody, stating that he was ready to fight for them and criticising those he claimed wanted to take them away from him.
He assured the public that he was a responsible father and always paid for Sky and Dani’s school fees, as well as their other needs.

Details of Betty Bayo’s leaked chats with Kanyari
Recently, Kanyari made public several WhatsApp conversations between him and Betty, in which she repeatedly asked him on different occasions to pay for the children’s school fees, buy shoes, and provide for other items they needed.
“Morning, the kids are back to school. Please send KSh 98,000 for private transport,” read one text from Betty, followed by a reminder of the same request, as it seemed he had forgotten.
On another occasion, Kanyari received a photo of shoes, with his ex-wife asking for KSh 3,500 to order them for their son.
“Hello, you forgot to pay for Dani’s uniform. He has none, as the others are all torn,” read another message.
How did Kenyans react to Kanyari leaking chats?
Attention, however, shifted to Kanyari’s lack of response to Betty’s messages. Many criticised him for leaking the private conversations before Betty had even been buried.
In one instance, there was even a missed voice call, but he never replied, at least not in writing.
Gen Z Nation:
“The chat had no reply from you. Now wait and see who will be sending you such messages.”
Catherine Catherine:
“Some people here don’t understand that there are those who don’t reply to messages. They’d rather call or reply via M-Pesa.”
Nimmoh Nish Gee:
“He could have deleted the part where he didn’t reply, because it could be that he was being rude. Men who seek validation from social media and the masses have their own issues.”
Monica Mwangi Wanjira:
“Blue-tick and be ignored weeee, these screenshots.”
Shikuh Joy:
“I guess he doesn’t like texting. Maybe he replies with a call. Not justifying him, but that could be the case. Meanwhile, sharing the screenshots was unnecessary.”
Linda Mwangi:
“The kind of humiliation Kanyari is subjecting the late Betty to is sad… The children are his too, yet he makes it seem as if he was doing her a favour.”
