The revelation was made by Linus Kaikai, the group editorial director and head of strategy at Royal Media Services.
Kaikai hosted a gathering on Saturday, November 22, where he celebrated his admission to the bar as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
He described Babu as a remarkable individual, praising his academic and professional versatility.
How did Babu help Kaikai in law school?
“This is a very solid guy. Very solid mind. He has an Actuarial Science degree, he has Law and Economics degrees, and he is currently learning to fly planes,” Kaikai said.
He added that Babu’s dedication ensures he will excel in any field he chooses, whether it is politics, economics, law, or aviation.
The MP has also been recognised for his commitment to education. Kaikai commended Owino’s online classes for KCPE and KCSE candidates, and his support for Kenya School of Law students.
“Babu helped me understand a lot and made commercial law very easy to grasp,” Kaikai noted.
Other attendees also highlighted the lawmaker’s unique approach to teaching.
“Babu was doing his pupilage. As an MP, he would go to campaigns, come back to do his pupillage, make submissions, attend meetings, and still take me through crash courses. He would teach me without a book. He is very smart,” a female participant in the ceremony recalled.
Babu congratulates Linus Kaikai
In response, Babu Owino expressed gratitude to Kaikai for acknowledging his journey.
On social media, he congratulated the journalist on his milestone and reflected on the challenges of entering the legal profession.

Is Babu Owino a certified pilot?
In 2022, Babu shared a video on Facebook showing himself confidently in the cockpit of a plane, gripping the joystick as he flew back from the coast after campaigning for Raila Odinga.
The video sparked curiosity and skepticism among his followers, many of whom questioned whether he was actually trained to fly.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, he claimed that he is a fully trained and certified pilot. He revealed that he had accumulated over 50 hours of flying time, meeting the requirement for licensing.
He also clarified that this was not his first time piloting an aircraft, assuring the public of his competence.
