The Salvation Healing Ministries preacher sparked the controversy during a fiery sermon on November 30, while addressing opposition to him taking custody of his children following the death of his ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo.
What did Pastor Kanyari say about DeMathew’s family?
During the sermon, Kanyari questioned why, after DeMathew’s passing, custody of his children had not become a public debate, despite DeMathew having been openly polygamous.
He also hinted at the lifestyle of one of DeMathew’s wives, claiming it has been negative, though he did not name anyone specifically.
The preacher’s comments quickly drew the attention of Carolyne DeMathew, the second wife, who publicly expressed her displeasure.
She took to Facebook, writing:
“Prophet Kanyari, what are you asking from my children and me? I have left it to God to deal with you. Silence is golden.”
She also reshared the video on her page, sparking reactions from her loyal fan base.

Following Carolyne’s post, Kanyari issued a public apology to her.
In his statement, he said:
“I sincerely want to apologise for the statement I recently made and the video I published regarding the late DeMathew, his beloved wife, and children. Upon reflection, I acknowledge that my words and the content shared were inappropriate and may have caused misunderstanding, discomfort, or offense to individuals, groups, and the public.”
