Edgar Namayala, 47, a civil engineer, told the court that the discovery confirmed his long-held suspicions that his wife, Caroline Chushi, 33, was being unfaithful.

Why Namayala suspected wife

Nkani reports that the estranged couple married in 2010 and share two children.

Namayala said their troubles began years ago while living in Matero, where he was first tipped off that his wife was involved with another man.

He told the court that things worsened after they moved to Kasupe as Chushi increasingly withdrew from the marriage.

According to him, she refused him conjugal rights, started sleeping in a separate room, and occasionally disappeared from home for days without explanation.

How Namayala’s marriage collapsed

The breaking point, he said, came one night when Chushi returned home late. After checking her handbag, Namayala claimed he found a small tablet of soap typically associated with lodges.

He told the court that his wife also had a collection of charms which he believed his wife used to “entice men”. Chushi, however, firmly denied the accusations.

Instead, she accused her husband of being the unfaithful one, alleging he had an affair with a married woman.

She said she even had recordings of Namayala mocking the woman’s husband about the alleged relationship.

The marital dispute, filled with counteraccusations and emotional turmoil, is now before the court as both parties seek to part ways after years of growing mistrust.
