A family’s journey to a joyous introduction ceremony ended in tragedy after a fatal road accident along the Pallisa–Tirinyi Road claimed the life of a 23-year-old man.

The incident, which occurred at Rweta C, Nansenyi, near Victory Secondary School, left more than a dozen nursing injuries, including four police officers.
How Pallisa crash happened
Daily Monitor reports that the crash involved a Toyota Hiace which veered off the road and struck a pedestrian before overturning into a water trench.
Police spokesperson ASP Wilfred Kyempasa identified the deceased as Herbert Ekodat, a mechanic who had been walking along the roadside when tragedy struck.
“He died instantly after the vehicle veered off and landed on him in a water trench,” ASP Kyempasa said.
Among the injured were four police officers travelling in the Hiace: AIP James Okoeot, Lucky Lajara (CT Tactical), Cpl Isaac Anyou Egimo (CT Tactical), and Alex Ariong (CT Tourism).
Where was family travelling to?
Preliminary investigations reveal the group was travelling to Amuria for an introduction ceremony, a major cultural event, when disaster struck.
“The vehicle’s front tyre reportedly burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off the road, knocking the pedestrian who was walking on the opposite side, and eventually landing on him in a water trench,” Kyempasa explained.
A team led by IP Chekwoti Immaculate, the District Traffic Officer for Pallisa, responded to the scene, documenting evidence and drawing a sketch plan.
The vehicle was towed to Pallisa Central Police Station for mechanical inspection while the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue for a postmortem.
All the injured victims were rushed to Pallisa General Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

Hearse ferrying bodies of father, son involved in accident
Meanwhile, a grieving family from Taita Taveta is in pain after yet another tragedy befell them on their way home.
The mourners were travelling from Jomvu in Mombasa to Taita-Mbale for the burial of a father and son when the hearse transporting the two bodies was involved in an accident .
Details indicate that the hearse rolled over at the Wundanyi bridge on Friday, November 28, in what is believed to be a case of brake failure.
A family member who shared the news also revealed the state of the mourners who were in the ill-fated vehicle.
