“He stormed over to me, shouting that I must respect him and accused me of having an affair with his girlfriend. Then he began beating me,” Moriasi said.
He added that the MP was accompanied by his bodyguard and another individual.
Moriasi’s lawyer, Benard Atancha, questioned why the MP had not been arrested despite the complaint being filed on the same day at Kisii Police Station.
“We have followed all the procedures, yet the police have not arrested the individual who assaulted my client with unknown people at Java in Kisii Town,” said Atancha. He further expressed concern for Moriasi’s safety, suggesting that the MP may still pose a threat and could be looking to cause further harm.
Netizens react to Kisii MP assault
Some netizens jokingly commented on age and the absurdity of the fight while others speculated about the victim’s condition, questioning whether he was truly injured or if it was staged.
Obiria Job:
“Being a boyfriend ends at age 35. After that, you’re an uncle. Please, uncles, stop fighting.”
Yuvenalis Makumba:
“But I saw the assaulted man walking freely and energetically, paying his bill. He walked out of the restaurant without help, what happened afterward? Was he supported to walk, or was this staged?”
Griffo:
“The MP knew the CCTV footage was available, so he was making a statement.”
Jepngetich Biwott:
“He’s too good-looking to be roughed up like that. I doubt the limping, though. It could be staged.”
Innocent Matara:
“Proud of this legislator. Call it whatever you want, but this guy has omogusii at heart.”
Geofrey Nyandieka:
“Did he report the other victim who broke his leg? Because in this video, he’s walking fine, which makes me wonder if his leg was actually broken later on.”
