Philip Aroko, who ran in the recently held Kasipul by-election, has elicited mixed reactions about Boyd Were, who was elected as the next Member of Parliament.

The Kasipul seat became vacant after the then MP Charles Ong’ondo Were was shot dead while driving in Nairobi.
Does Philip Aroko know Boyd Were?
At his burial, ODM Party MPs asked their then-party leader, Raila Odinga, to endorse one of Ong’ondo’s sons to replace him in parliament.
The hotly contested seat attracted different politicians all seeking to replace Ong’ondo, but his son, Boyd, emerged as the winner.
After the results were announced, Boyd and his two step-mothers celebrated as they joined Kasipul residents who had camped outside their house.
While in an interview with Oga Obinna, Aroko claimed that he does not know who Boyd is and that he only sees him on television.
“I have got nothing against that boy. There is no issue; I do not know him. I just see him on TV, and physically if we meet. But I do not know him. I just saw him when the dad passed on and when the ODM people were holding his hands. Is he 27 years old? I am 43. He has not won that thing,” he said.

What did Aroko say after the results were announced?
Aroko took to social media to assure his followers that the journey was still on despite him not clinching the parliamentary seat.
He vowed to continue supporting Kasipul residents as he was and hinted at trying his political bid again in 2027.
The philanthropist did not, however, congratulate Boyd or talk about the results in his post, sparking questions about his relationship with his new MP.
Other candidates who were on the ballot conceded defeat early enough and joined Boyd’s camp, and they were spotted at their posh home.
Some netizens urged Aroko to keep strategising if he wants to win in 2027, while others advised him to avoid politics and continue with his charity missions.
